Police received 350 reports of ransomware attacks last 3.5 years

Researchers in the Netherlands have found that many victims of ransomware do not report data theft.
In 73 cases, it was found that very likely no data was captured, and for the remaining known attacks, there is no information about data theft. Victims whose data were stolen and paid for may be less likely to go to the police, so they are missing from the dataset used. When there was a ransomware attack involving data theft, the average ransom requested was 2.9 million euros.
